Key Questions

What is Cosmetic Tattooing?

Cosmetic tattooing has long been used to enhance facial features. Permanent colour pigment implants give shape and definition and can be applied around the eyes as an eyeliner, on the eyebrows, as a lipliner or a lip tint. These implants although called permanent last for 2-6 years, depending on your skin type. Cosmetic tattooing is not only carried out on the face, it is also used to camouflage burns and scars. Those with vision impairments or physical disabilities have also turned to permanent make-up as applying make up daily becomes a difficult task. Professional athletes, actors and models have taken advantage of permanent make up to ensure that they look their best at all times.

What Are Pigment Colour?

The pigment used contains Oxide, Alcohol, Distilled Water and Glycerine which is non toxic. The Pigment Lotions are specifically manufactured for implantation into the human skin. A powder is suspended in a solution of distilled water, alcohol, and glycerine, which results in a smooth, fine creamy liquid. Permanent Make up Pigment Colour's have been created for use on the face and are pre-mixed and pasteurised.

What Does It Look Like On The Skin?

It looks as if you applied a pencil; a little softer and more muted. The colour immediately after the treatment will be stronger, brighter and possibly darker than you desired colour. In most cases you lose approximately 20-40% of intense colour during the healing process within 4 -14 days, excluding full lip colour which you can lose up to 50% after the healing process, again that depends on the colour used, type of skin and if you have followed the Home Care instructions.

What are the areas that I can tattoo?

Eyebrows

The eyebrow is a popular area for cosmetic tattooing. There can be gaps in the eyebrow, sometimes due to scarring or perhaps only half an eyebrow exists naturally. Sometimes a more defined, thicker or darker eyebrow is preferred. This procedure is also good for people who have over plucked the hairs from their eyebrows, or for some reason eyebrow hair hasn't grown back after hair loss. For people suffering from Alopecia (loss of hair) have found the eyebrow treatment of tremendous value. Colour is implanted to your desired shape, framing the eyes with a more defined shape.

Eyeliner

Pigmentation implantation can give you a permanent made-up look. The whites of your eyes look whiter and brighter, and no more running eyeliner halfway through the day.

Lips

Lipline implantation creates an attractive lipline that enhances the shape of the mouth and looks great with or without make-up. People who have no definite lip shape, pale lips, sun damaged lips, uneven lips or lips that have lost the shape as a result of cold sores or injury can use this procedure to give them a definite lip shape or simply to emphasise or enlarge the mouth.

Beauty Spots

Add a distinctive beauty spot in the place you always though one should be!

How is Cosmetic Tattooing Applied?

Gently applied, a needle is used to shallowly insert the non-toxic pigment under the skin. The pigments are non-reactive and specially manufactured to be used on human skin. They contain no iron and do not discolour the skin. We have a very large range of colour's to choose from. Many factors effect colour matching however the match is very close to the colour requested. Many factors can alter the end result of the colour depending on your skin pigment, acids, oils or neglect of home care instructions. All procedures are drawn on first with a pencil to our desired shape. Once the area to be tattooed is prepared it is cleaned with antiseptic, and a topical anaesthetic is applied to the skin. Needles are disposed of after each patient and all equipment is fully sterilised by a autoclave.

What is Permanent Hair Reduction?

What makes the ENERGIST Ultra special?

Traditionally, most cosmetic procedures have been associated with lasers. As technology has progressed, research has shown that intense pulsed light, and in particular variable pulsed light are regularly producing better results than the laser units originally available. Pulsed light units are non-laser, emitting light across a broad range of wavelengths that are preferentially absorbed by the appropriate structure in the skin. The ENERGIST Ultra is designed so that each shot of light comprises a sequence of rapid shorter pulses. The variable pulses ensure more controlled absorption by the appropriate structures whilst minimising heating of the surrounding skin. This means that a greater range of hair and skin types can be safely and effectively treated than was previously possible.

Treatment Procedure

On average 6-8 sessions will be interspaced by 4-6 weeks each. However, due to hair growth delay, seen usually around the 3rd or 4th session, intervals between treatments may last longer between the last sessions. The number of treatments may vary according to skin and hair type.

How does it work?

Depending upon the treatment being carried out, light emitted from the ENERGIST ultra is preferentially absorbed by the specific structure in the skin. For Hair removal, the melanin in the hair absorbs this light and is heated to a temperature that permanently inhibits the hairs’ growth.

Is there anything I need to do prior to, or after, treatment?

It is advisable to stay out of the sun, and away from tanning beds, for at least 6 weeks prior to any treatment to ensure that your skin is as close as possible to its natural colour. You must ensure that all cosmetics are removed from the treatment area with a good cleanser and then allow the skin to settle. As the skin may be slightly more sensitive post-treatment it is recommended to use skin products developed for sensitive skin and again avoid the sun or tanning beds.
